Atradius is a leading global provider of credit insurance, debt collection and surety services and is present on every continent. The origins of what is now Atradius go back to 1925, when the Dutch Credit Insurance Company (NCM) was founded in the Netherlands with the aim of improving trade for companies in the Netherlands after the First World War. Not long afterwards, in 1932, NCM signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Finance for the reinsurance of export credits. This relationship still exists. Through its subsidiary Atradius Dutch State Business, Atradius carries out the export credit facility for the Dutch State.
What followed was the establishment of international companies through which it has grown to one of the largest credit insurers worldwide, a trusted provider of trade credit insurance, sureties and guarantees, and debt collection services in more than 50 countries around the world.
